Christmas Four Man Team Event
The fifth Devon Alliance event of the season was held at Dawlish Warren
Golf Club on the 3rd December 2009. We had another impressive turn out
with 112 players in the 4-player team event. The competition was 2 scores
to count stableford.
Unfortunately, heavy rain the night before meant four of the holes
on the back nine were unplayable and resulted in a 14-hole competiton.
The actual weather on the day was good with sunny spells, although
a strong wind made scoring difficult.
The winners of the day in the Pro-Am event were Teign Valley professional
Scott Amiet, with his team of Dave Boustead, Geoff Garrett and Pat
Masterson. They won by 2 points with an 8 under par score of 64 points.
In second
place on countback was Teignmouth’s team of John Axford,
Martin Spearman, Clive Robinson and Jamie Booth with 62 points.
In third place on the same score were Dan Hendriksen and his team,
Lester
Barnes, Chester Barnes and Chris Coles from Churston.
In the Am-Am event, the team from Tavistock of Peter Leverton, Graham
Ruth, Ron Smith and Shaun Kiely won with a score of 54 points. After
the event the Captain of the Alliance Duncan Arnold thanked Dawlish
Warren for holding the event and all the staff at the club for their
help during the day.
The next Alliance is the two-day event at Saunton. Could all entries
please be in to the Alliance Secretary by the 21st January 2010.
As a result of 4 holes being out of play at Dawlish Warren, there
will be additional nearest the pin prizes on both days at the Saunton
Alliance.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look
forward to seeing you all at Saunton.
