The Churston Alliance was held on Thursday 10th March 2011. 120 Alliance members enjoyed the course in fine condition and a breezy day made scoring difficult. The Devon Alliance would like to thank the sponsors of the day, Lee Klinkenberg, Terry Lee, Pete Morgan and Jon Stockman.

The scores reflected the tricky conditions and there was a share of first place in the Pro Am event with the home partnership of Paul Hendriksen and Chester Barnes, joined by Hele Park pairing of Ben Martin and Guy Westaway with 42 points. This was enough for a 1 shot victory from Mark Hurst and Jamie Hoskins (both Fingle Glen) with 41 points in third place.

In the Am-Am event, there was another home who took the honours. Terry Lee and D Dudridge played very well for 43 points and a 3 shot victory over home players Lester Barnes and Chris Coles and Colin Wayman (Exeter) and Ian Morris (Dawlish).
In the Professional individual, Torquay assistant Tom Hiscock won by 2 shots on a level par 36 points. Tom was a junior at Churston for 10 years and his local knowledge helped him to his second victory of the year. There were four professionals tied for second place on 34 points – Adrian Cave (Honiton), Ashley Moon (Okehampton), Jason Avery (Saunton) and Alliance Captain Stuart Disney (Padbrook).

Devon Alliance Captain Stuart Disney thanked Churston Golf Club for hosting the day, especially Club Manager Simon Bawden, the greenkeeping team and the entire bar and catering team. He also thanked Rob Butterworth in the shop and Dan Hendriksen who took care of all the administration on the day.
