The Carter-Dawes Crediton Alliance was held on Thursday 24th March
2011. 90 Alliance members enjoyed the course in fine condition on a
beautiful sunny day. The Devon Alliance would like to thank the sponsor
of the day Carter Dawes Financial Advisors and in particular Simon
Carter.
It was in form Ben Martin (Hele Park) and his amateur partner Tim Shobrook
(Yelverton) who won the Pro-Am event with an excellent score of 43
points. The victory also means that Martin is now top of the Kenyon
Order and Merit and Shobrook extends his lead at the top of the Amateur
Order of Merit. In second place on 42 points was the Exminster pairing
of Jon Langmead and Adrian Hughes.
In the Am-Am event, Damian Lidstone (Elfordleigh) and Mark Wood (Staddon)
won the event with 41 points. This was enough for a 1 shot victory
over the Okehampton partnership of Frank Ward and Nick Redman, Lester
and Chester Barnes (Churston) and the Teign Valley pairing of Vince
Chalk and Tom Sheffield.
In the Professional individual, it was Exeter professional Chris Gill
shot a fantastic score of 38 points. This was enough for a 3 shot
victory over Ben Martin and Ashley Moon (Okehampton). Gill is now in
second
place in the Kenyon Order of Merit and will ensure an exciting finish
to the season.
Devon Alliance Captain Stuart Disney thanked Crediton Golf Club for
hosting the day, especially Club Secretary Robin Goodey, the greenkeeping
team and the entire bar and catering team. He also thanked Barry Austin
in the shop and Devon and George for their assistance on the day as
well.
The next event is the Team Championships at Teignmouth Golf Club on
Thursday 7th April.
