The Team Championships was held on the wonderful coastal course of Teignmouth on Thursday 7th April. The course was in good condition and a fantastic sunny day meant it was going to be a great event.
The Team Championship is a 36 hole event with two scores to count out of the four players. It was Devon Alliance Captain Stuart Disney and his team from Padbrook Park who were leading after the first round. They scored a magnificent 85 points (13 under par) to take a 1 shot lead from the Exminster team, lead by Professional Jon Langmead.
It was Exminster who managed to continue their good play in the afternoon and won the event with a second round 81 points for a 165 total (21 under par). Jon Langmead and his team of Matt Sail, Ted Kimpton and Adrian Hughes managed a 4 shot win and won the trophy for 2011. Padbrook Park with Stuart Disney, Ray Cavill, Duncan Hepburn and Neil Vaughan came in second place on 161 points (85, 76). Teignmouth B, lead by Pro Jon Axford came third of 159.
The Devon Alliance Captain Stuart Disney thanked Teignmouth Golf Club for allowing the Devon Alliance to visit their club, and in particular General Manager Ian Evans and Professional Rob Selley. Stuart also thanked all the green staff and the entire bar and catering staff for the excellent food throughout the day.
The next Alliance fixture is on Thursday 21st April 2011 at Padbrook Golf Club and I will look forward to seeing you all then.
