The
Mizuno Devon Alliance event at Torquay Golf Club on Thursday 14th October
2010 had a field of 84 players that enjoyed a golf course in
fine condition. This event was the second event and the first Kenyon
event of the season for both Amateurs and Professionals.
The
scoring was very good and the final results were one of the closest
in recent years, with only two points separating the top 8 pairs
in the Pro-Am event. There was a three-way tie at the top of the leader board in the Pro-Am
competition. Home professional Tom Hiscock and his amateur partner
Mike Goodrich, Cliff Strange and David Ewings, also from Torquay Golf
Club and the Crediton pairing of James Martin and Frank Sanders ended
the event in joint first place.
In the Am-Am event, there was an excellent score of 43 points from
the Yelverton pairing of David Coombes and Tim Shobrook, who won by
a single point from Mark Dunsford and James Thomas from East Devon.
In the Professional Kenyon Trophy, there was a share of first place
with Tom Hiscock coming out on top again, along with Elfordleigh Professional
Nick Cook continuing his recent good play with an excellent score of
38 points.

The Alliance Captain Duncan Arnold thanked Torquay Golf Club and Club
Captain Bob Files for hosting the event, especially professionals Martin
Ruth, Tom Hiscock and Ben Hiscock, the Secretary Colin Nolan and the
entire bar and catering staff at the club.
The next event is at Yelverton Golf Club on Thursday 28th October
and the Devon Alliance AGM will precede the presentation of prizes
at Yelverton.
