The
team Championships were held at a very cold Teignmouth on the 5th
April.
A two tee start from 8.00am was a real shock following the warm mild
weather the south west had enjoyed, the first team out lead by Jon
Axford
posted a very good 83 points which when compared to the other early
scores
appeared as if it would lead at lunch time. However, Barry Austin
posted a total of 86 late in the morning to grab the half way lead.
In my opinion the weather improved in the afternoon, although I never
left the clubhouse! The chasing pack started to post some good scores
and Jon Langmead with 83 posted a total of 162, Chris Gill followed
with 82 for a total of 162 as well and Rob Selley with an 81 also
finished on 162. (One point of interest, Rob had four twos of his
own in the pm
round, in my view very good play, but a touch greedy).
This left 2 balls per two in the pm round with over 40 two's acheived.
As you might have guessed Barry Austin inspired his team to a steady
83 points in the afternoon and managed to win the Team Championships
by a clear 7 shots with a total of 169, a magnificent team effort
and worthy winners of the event. Downs Crediton have been very good
supporters
of this year's alliance and this was a real team effort. Well played.
