The tenth Devon Alliance event was held at Exeter Golf Club on Thursday
29th April 2010. There was very little wind, but was raining for the
majority of the day, which made the course receptive and resulted in
some impressive scoring from both the Professionals and Amateurs.
In the
Pro-Am event, Elfordleigh Professional Nick Cook kept up his recent
good play along with his
partner John Lidstone (Yelverton) and
Neil Holman from Torbay Golf Centre and Stover’s Will Godfrey
shared 1st place with a great score of 44 points. Plymouth Golf Centre’s
Professional Ian Marshall along with his partner John Spry from Bigbury
came third on 43 points.
In the Am-Am event, the Okehampton pairing of Paul Skidmore and Gary
Cary came in with an impressive score of 44 points. This was enough
for a two point win from Chester Barnes and Chris Coles (Churston)
with the Saunton partnership of Tony Warren and Alan Payne third on
41 points.
In the Kenyon Trophy there was a three way tie for first. The three
players with an excellent score of 39 points were Seam Mason (Exeter),
Neil Holman (Torbay GC) and Ian Marshall (Plym GC). It was the first
time there has been a three way tie for first position this season.
The Alliance
Secretary thanked Exeter Golf Club for hosting the event, in particular
all the Green staff for producing a golf course in fantastic
condition. He also thanked the Golf Manager Russell Maine, all the
staff behind the bar and in the Kitchen and the Professionals Gary
Milne and Mark Taylor in the shop.
The next event is the Crediton Alliance on Thursday 13th May.
