The
eighth Devon Alliance event was held at Tavistock Golf Club on 1st
April 2010. After the recent weather everyone would of thought it would
be an April fool if they were told there would only be one 5 minutes
shower all through the day. Everyone was very fortunate with the weather
and the course was in great condition. There was a stiff breeze that
meant that scoring was going to be difficult.
In the Pro-Am event, Elfordleigh Head Professional Nick Cook and
his amateur partner Mark Wood of Staddon Heights won the event with
43 points. This is back to back wins for Cook and is playing some very
good golf so for this year. Cook and Wood won by 1 point from Ashley
Moon and Frank Ward form Okehampton and the Churston partnership of
Paul Hendriksen and Luke Hendrisken.
In the Am-Am event, the Royal North Devon pairing of Chris Brown and
Ross Daniel won with a good score of 41 points. In second place was
the home pair of Mike Coles and Ron Smith on 40 points with Andy Egginton
and Andy Burnham (Teignmouth) in third place on 38 points.
In the Kenyon Trophy there was an excellent score of 38 points from
Nick Cook and Sean Mason of Exeter. Paul Hendriksen was third of 36
points.
The
Alliance Secretary Simon Wood thanked Tavistock Golf Club for hosting
the event, in particular all the Green staff for producing
a golf course in fantastic condition. He also thanked the Tavistock
secretary Jonathon Coe, all the staff behind the bar and in the Kitchen
and the Professionals Stuart Steel and Simon Invest in the shop.
The
next event is the Dartmouth Alliance on Thursday 15th April.
