The final Devon Alliance event of the 2009/2010 season was the Team Championships held at Teignmouth Golf Club on Thursday 27th May 2010. It was a lovely sunny day, with a stiff breeze making scoring difficult especially in the afternoon round. 80 Alliance members played in the event, making up twenty teams, which consisted of 1 Professional and 3 Amateurs. The format was two scores to count stableford over 36 holes.

The event proved to be very close. After the first round, the team from Teign Valley were leading on 81 points with East Devon, Teignmouth A, Churston and Tavistock A two points back on 79 points. Elfordleigh were a point further back with Yelverton on 77 points.

In the afternoon the wind picked up and it was Yelverton who had the joint best afternoon score to win the event on countback from East Devon. Yelverton Professional Tim McSherry with his amateur team of Tim Shobrook, Bill Hammett and Mike Daniels scored 79 points in the afternoon for a total of 156 points, 12 under par. This meant that Yelverton were crowned the Devon Alliance Team Champions for 2010.

In second place was the East Devon team of Simon Carter, Mark Dunsford and Graham Briggs with their Professional Ben Martin from Hele Park. They lost on countback on 156 after scoring 77 points in their afternoon round.

In third place was the Saunton B team of Professional Jason Avery and his amateur teammates of Tony Warren, Steve Berry and Jeremy Nicholls. Saunton B had 76 points in the morning round but had the equal best score of the afternoon with 79 points to have a total of 155 points, eleven under par.

The Alliance Captain Duncan Arnold thanked Teignmouth Golf Club for hosting the event, in particular all the Green staff for producing a golf course in fantastic condition. He also thanked the Club Secretary Ian Evans, all the staff behind the bar and in the Kitchen and the Professionals Rob Selley and Jon Axford in the shop. Also a big thank you also to Colin Wood, who took over as Alliance Secretary for the day.

The first event of next season is the Professional Invitation Day at Okehampton Golf Club on Thursday 23rd September 2010.
