On a glorious autumn day the cream of Devon Pro golf gathered at the picturesque Teign Valley golf course. The course which has matured very well since it's construction 15 years ago, offers a great strategic challenge, with a mixture of tight tree lined fairways, lakes, ditches and well placed bunkers. Although not a long course, it still presents a superb challenge for even the scratch golfer.

In the pro individual score, the cream really did rise to the top, with two of Devon's most consistent and accomplished golfer's both finished tied first on 3 under par 67's. West Region money list leader Chris Gill, and Teign Valley's home touring professional, Sean Mason. Both players felt they could have scored a little bit lower, but were none the less happy to keep their good form going as the season draws to a close.

Gill particularly wants to maintain his sharpness, as in three weeks time he attempts to get through the next stage of the European Tour qualifying school, and Mason after a season working hard on his game looks to recapture last season's form, where he was number one player in the West Region.

In third place on 68 was Exeter's teaching guru Gary Milne, who proved yet again that he can still `mix it` with the best on the golf course. In fourth place after a very disappointing finish was Ashley Moon from Okehampton. Ashley was 4 under par with three to play, but lost his focus in the closing holes.

Home pro Scott Aimet, who also superbly organised the event, also dropped shots late in his round and had to settle for a level par 70.

In the team competition, the winners were lead by home Pro Sean Mason who produced an incredible 19 under par total to pip Okehampton's team, lead by Ashley Moon by one shot.

Main sponsor on the day who also played in the event, was Robert Fosse whose company www.westcountystoragesolutions.com are based locally.

Devon PGA Captain Iain Parker thanked everybody at Teign Valley for putting on a great days golf, and commented "the pros love coming to Teign Valley, not least because, their is always a great friendly atmosphere around the club, and in the bar after the round." He also thanked club captain James Brophy and looked forward next season for an even bigger and better event.
