Andy Norman back to winning ways
35 of Devon's leading Professionals gathered at a `gale swept` Teign Valley. Conditions couldn't have been more different from the previous weeks Pro Am with some holes that had been a drive and a wedge suddenly becoming a driver and a 3 wood! In weather like this scoring was always going to be difficult, and par looked like a great effort.

Despite the tough weather conditions the picturesque course was in excellent condition. The winning score on the day, a level par round of 70, from `Back To Form` Andy Norman. Andy who seems to love playing golf at this time of year, having won this week in 3 successive seasons, had the patience and experience to deal with the testing conditions. He felt that the key to his success on the day had been his mental strength, and his holing out from inside 10ft.

Andy hasn't played as much golf this season, due to work commitments, but he proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with among the leading Devon professionals. He feels that his calm temperament and positive attitude gives him a greater chance of a good result when the conditions are at their toughest.

Tied in second place were home touring professional Sean Mason, who's lower ball flight works well in the windy conditions, and Mike Searle the powerful Woodbury Park touring professional. Next on 72 was `rookie pro` Tom Hiscock from Torquay who has made a very promising start to his professional career, and he moved into a narrow lead after 2 events in the order of merit standings. On 73 were Exeminsters Jody Bee, Elfordleigh's Nick Cook and the experienced RND head pro Iain Parker.

Devon PGA Captain Iain Parker, thanked Scott Aimet and everybody at Teign Valley for their warm welcome, at this friendliest of Devon Clubs.
