The 2021-22 Season

Firstly I must say Bev and I are missing you all it has been a tough time and we hope you have all had a fantastic summer, golf in the UK has been crazy!!

Please can I say a massive thank you to all who supported the Glenn Richards / Nick Lane day the turnout was amazing and we personally thank you all, we had great support from Malcolm J on raffle sales and Mark T on auction items.

Due to all of the difficulties over the last 18 months I have requested that Jonny Rattenbury stands again as your Captain which I’m delighted to advise he has agreed to do, it is my intention to get back to normal and conduct a prize giving after play at each event.

We have a couple of changes to the fixture list, unfortunately Bovey Castle are unable to host on the 7th October and our Captains Club Okehampton have very kindly stepped into the space and agreed to host us so I’m really looking for a big turnout for the 7th October to get the season up and running and show some great support to Jonny.

We have added an extra event for April 14th 2022, we are going to Tiverton and the intention is to be the first group to play and enjoy the clubs new layout!

Pro Am News:-

It is disappointing to advise that our French Pro Am has been cancelled this year, this is in the main due to lack of ferry crossings from Plymouth. Brittany Ferries have had a very difficult time and I fully understand why they have reduced the service, things should be back to normal for 2022.

We are though pushing ahead with our La Manga Pro – Am 24th – 28th November, things are certainly beginning to relax in Spain and La Manga is a great venue. I urge you to grab 3 members (not necessary to be Alliance members) and come and join in the fun and start getting back to normal.

My final point is to urge everybody to come and compete in the Devon Open at Downs Crediton on the 26th September. Devon Greenslade has worked really hard and the event is also a recognised Devon Golf order of merit event. If we don’t support we will lose it like so many other events, we must try and keep these traditions going.

See you on the 26th at Crediton.

Many thanks,

Graham
